Reverse Production

Have a customer who buys computers & printers and then disassembles them into components to resell.

Unlike some other mfg systems I’ve worked with, Epicor does not have a disassembly or reverse production feature.

I do know you have an option for ‘co-parts’ so that you can have more than 1 finished good come out of a job.

Any thoughts of creative ways to handle this with E10?

Use the co-parts.

Imagine the purchased part is COMP-01.

  • Make a Mfg’d parts PS-01, MB-01, HD-01, etc…
  • Make a BOM for PS-01, which requires (1) COMP-01.
  • PS-01 then has co-parts MB-01, HD-01, etc…

A job to make one PS-01 requires one COMP-01, and also yields the co-parts.

Now the down side, is if the same power supply is in COMP-01 and COMP-02. But COMP-02 has a different HD than COMP-01.

Thanks. Was kind of thinking the same. Was hoping there was same way to fool it into using negative quantities.

Yeah … Another ERP system I’ve used allows for negative qty’s on BOM’s. When those job’s materials are issued, the negative increase the QOH of that component

One option you could use is issue the material to a job, and then salvage back the components.
