RFQ-to-Purchase Order process enhancement needed

Yes, you can buy expense items direct to a G/L account but you can't specify
the account number on the requisition.

Here's how I understand the logic in V8 - someone please correct me if I am
wrong:

If you want to specify the account number on a PO, you must enter it on a
release.

If you don't specify it on the release, it will pick it up from the part
number.

If there isn't one on the part number then it will pick up the account number
from the part class.

If there isn't one on the part class or the class isn't specified, it will
pick up the account number from the supplier's record.

Unless I am missing something, in V8 you are forced to create a single
P.O. for each line item on the RFQ, regardless of how many items you
had sent out to be quoted. Also regardless of the fact that items
sent out to be quoted together are typically expected to be shipped
together and invoiced together. I am trying to think of someone that
actually issues ONE purchase order for EACH item they request for
quote but haven't come across any. What am I missing about the RFQ-to-
Purchase Order process? In order to make the RFQ process worth using,
I need to be able to issue a P.O. for all lines, some lines or one
line of an RFQ.

There is supposedly an enhancement request that has more than 20
customers requesting this functionality be added. If anyone else
would take the time to call in and request that the RFQ-to-Purchase
Order process be enhanced to reflect what actually happens perhaps
developement would actually push it through.
In addition, it would be great if one could specify an account number for
expense items.

Or a Part Class

Mark,

You mean to say that you currently can't buy expense items direct to a GL account in 8.0?

We are on 6.1 and I was hoping that issue had already been rectified.

Hello, we are implementing v8 from dataflo and this is
correct....I have a bigger problem...since V8 doesn't
require the average user to learn the gl #'s, you have
to setup part classes for all expense items sold on a
purchase order..I have 21 department that have 24
specific expense gl#'s that are tracked by
budgets...so at this point I have 680 part classes and
many inventory adjustments codes. In our company, we
pull a lot of stocked inventory items and use it
within these deparment...

I just thought our company was unique.

As for the requisition on V8 I would also like to see
project id and phase added too. We are still in the
prototyping phase of V8...We will be looking at the
requistion system in a month....

To be fair to Epicor...We currently do not use the
requistion feature in Dataflo. We created our own
requistion system through Lotus notes and custom
programmed a intergration path to Dataflo.

In reference to your adjustment codes comment, I have always thought
it would be a good feature that a Part Class should have a default
adjustment account.
