"Run Out" feature

When the "run out" box is checked on a part, it will only prompt you to
use a substitute. Vantage will only substitute a part (in the
configurator at least) if the part is marked inactive.

Subject: [Vantage] "Run Out" feature

We are in the electronics industry, and from time to time we would like
to use up a component from inventory and then switch to a new one. I
understand that run out will allow you to do this, but we're not sure
what happens when you actually "run out".

We are speculating that if you call out a substitute part from
inventory, it will somehow substitute the new part or flag you to do
so. Any explanation of the feature would be appreciated.
