Running an Updateable BAQ

Why not just create the updateable dashboard? You can add parameters in the BAQ that can be pulled into the dashboard.

I use Quick-Searches as a way to give USERS complex searches or  reports\displays, since they cannot run BAQ’s that have not been converted to dashboards.

In 10 minutes, I can give them a very specific report with oddly related information and not have to clutter up, or deal with editing, the Menu Tree.

Can do the same with BAQ-Search – but it does not allow Prompts. Unfortunately, BAQ-Search will not execute an Updateable BAQ which is understandable since it needs file locking.

The items listed can be pasted into Excel to make a report or just viewed for information; for example: a quick PO-View that shows all lines, all deliveries, all released, and all invoicing for a specific PO-Nbr, OR a quick inventory report ( 10 seconds) – with age, demand, and usage.

Good Day Stephen:

Always good to hear from you.

Reason I do not do a dashboard is Company Rules\Politics.

Reason I do not just create a dashboard is that I do not have rights to dashboard design since I am no longer in IT department, I am in the New Materials Dept.

There is ‘work around”. I do have access on the test SERVER, so can do there, but then need to get IT to move to Live Account , if they approve, and of course it may not work there. Also, the Test SERVER is often in lock-down mode for IT testing so I cannot use it.

While that is painful to admit, it is probably not unique, and it does bring up the broader topic of WHY can’t a user be given rights to run BAQ’s without right to change\create them? You will agree that we cannot give them rights to change, since they do not use it often and would do unfortunate things by accident, even though well intentioned. Unless you play with BAQ’s daily, any one would make bad mistakes.

Is there a path of my being able to copy the “custom” since they would be identical except for the name of the BAQ? That is, it is a standard custom.

Can’t there be a BAQ.Tracker with an ‘Execute” command?

There's no reason why users, who understand indexing, shouldn't have BAQ/Dashboard capability as long as you're on a version that supports Field Security. A couple of years ago there was a bug in BAQ's where you could see protected field values if they're in a calcuated field.

While that is painful to admit, it is probably not unique, and it does bring up the broader topic of WHY canÂ’t a user be given rights to run BAQÂ’s without right to change\create them? You will agree that we cannot give them rights to change, since they do not use it often and would do unfortunate things by accident, even though well intentioned. Unless you play with BAQÂ’s daily, any one would make bad mistakes.

Is there a path of my being able to copy the “custom” since they would be identical except for the name of the BAQ? That is, it is a standard custom.

CanÂ’t there be a BAQ.Tracker with an ‘Execute” command?

In short not in the ICE framework tools that are provided. Only via a dashboard.

You could make a customisation that called the uBAQ if required but really I donÂ’t see why you would not just create the dashboard and publish that?

RE: Running an Updateable BAQ

Is there any way to run an updateable BAQ without using a dashboard?

I have used Quick-Searches and BAQ-Searches to get BAQÂ’s to users, but I just tried with an updateable BAQ and it did not work –it just ran as a query.

Could they be run using a UNC path from the Favorites menu tree?

Her is a fun one. “Back to the Future – Epicor 9”

Vantage 6 my rolling century on the database was 1960.

My conversion to Epicor 9 rolling century on the database is 1930

I have found a transaction dated for 2040 which I canÂ’t do the 2 adjustment method you mention.

I can see the transaction with a BAQ I created but canÂ’t run the Inventor y Quantity Adjustment on that date.

As soon as I enter 01/01/30 my Epicor 9 thinks IÂ’m in the 19th century not the 20th.

I will have to Adjustable-BAQ-Hack this one out of the system.

I believed I used an Updatable BAQ to change this before.  It is the SysDate that you cannot update.

I have a PUR-STK transaction from 10/17/08 entered as 10/17/14.

ISSUE: My TimePhase “Running Total” is off.

IÂ’m thinking of creating an Updatable BAQ and changing the PartTran.TRANDATE field to the 2008 receipt date.

Has anyone done this?

How are others handling this?

Qty Adjust out of future dated receipt and Qty Adjust back in original date?

Good Day:

Why would you need an updateable quick search?
