Safety Stock and MRP

I am looking for some advice on how people are handling safety stock with MRP. We have customers that require safety stock due to how they trigger part shipments with a 2 day lead time. When we go below safety, MRP plans jobs past due. We can firm and move these jobs out to a time that better fits our schedule, but MRP will suggest to move back into a past due condition. Locking the jobs eliminates the suggestions, but MRP will just plan another MRP job past due. Are other people dealing with this another way? Possibly using something other than safety stock?

Currently on 8.03.410.

Sorry, left out one important piece of information. We do not want to turn off the ability to schedule jobs in the past, just be able to schedule a replenishment job where we want it, without all the MRP noise to move it back. We need the ability to schedule in the past for other jobs.
