Feels like an obvious one, however fiddling our way into Kinetic we’re struggling to replicate the speed at which we had our classic SOE part search running, we had it so we typed part of what we were hunting for (Starts with) in the part field in the SOE Summary Page then had F8 (example) bound to do a lookup, so they typed the first three + characters and then F8 to bring up a search box that already had those three characters and was displaying results, those displayed results also included a second column for the Description in the case of where they need the description to identify which partnum to use.
we tried using essentially auto complete however it starts doing a lookup the second you type the first char and this does not show a matching column for description..
Idea’s?
really weird that there is no way in order summary to bind a key to part search, any creative idea’s for this?
a Co-Pilot says something about you can default to part search if the part does not exist instead of the standard part does not exist error, see how that goes with our superstar
This specific hot key is the reason I can’t get an entire department to hop on the Kinetic Order Entry train. It’s so heavily used and so much faster than clicking on part search, typing, hitting search, and scrolling through that I can’t even be mad at them for it.
I have not messed with predictive search.
If you figure out a solution please update me! I would love to figure out a solution.
Here I typed “HW” and the list populated like this
Use Predictive Search. This also uses a BAQ. The interface is slightly different, I don’t like it quite as much - but it’s better because you can apply it to all instances of that field (Part.PartNum or OrderDtl.PartNum for example) instead of having to apply it to every screen that uses that field.
I think both of these work better than what you’re describing currently, there’s no hot key to hit, there’s no separate screen to deal with…just type and it fills in.
For both of these you could make a combined Part # & Description field in the BAQ and have that show while typing.
