Scheduled Labor Edit report

I have a request to create 3 different Labor Edit reports to be auto-emailed daily to 3 different supervisors. Each of the 3 is the same report with different filter criteria (the employees on the report). I know how to set this up but the question arises as to how to handle regularly rotating staff. Is the only way to make changes to the filter criteria of a scheduled recurring email report to delete the scheduled email task and re-create it with new filter criteria on every requested change? I am hoping there is an easier way (for example somehow build the filter criteria into 3 separate BAQs and then just update the BAQ) but in this example, the Labor Edit report is not using a BAQ.

Any creative ideas to keep regular updates easy?

Add a grouping and page break to the report for the supervisor.

Then you can create an APR the breaks on the supervisor field and sends the email to them.

Single report. Single scheduled task.

To clarify, it is actually 2 supervisors (not 3), but one supervisor has two “groups” of employees and he wants one report for each group and he is listed as supervisor for more employees beyond the employees in these two groups. So I get what you’re saying but am not grasping how that approach might work.

But also, when one launches the Labor Edit report from the Epicor menu, the filter criteria is by Employee and Supervisor is not an option.

That said, I realize now that I can use a BAQ Search as the filter criteria. That will met me schedule three reports each with its own BAQ Search criteria and then we only need to update the BAQs.

Actually, the BAQ search doesn’t work the way that I expected. It executes but presents a list of results and I still have to manually click Select All. That works for the initial scheduled report, but then subsequent updates to the BAQ won’t update what was previously selected for the report by using Select All.

So now I’m back to where I started. Any suggestions?

Check out the System Agent form. In there, find your scheduled task under the schedule you chose. Then go to Actions > View Task Parameters. You can’t edit the parameters here, so I always recreate my tasks. Usually, I create the task and add a special not in the User Description so that I know which tasks to keep and which to delete when I review them in the system monitor. For a couple of our managers, I just used their Epicor account to submit recurring tasks (on startup) for the labor edit reports. That way, at the beginning of the day when they login to Epicor they get the report. This keeps the reports associated to the manager that uses it. I can view all the tasks that managers have setup by looking at the System Monitor and turning on Actions > Dispaly All Tasks. I know this isn’t the same as emailing the reports, but it works for us. In our case, the managers don’t care about the employee list as much as the departments. So, each manager has a list of departments that the labor edit report is filtered by showing all the employees in those departments. This might be easier than creating your own fancy filters. That is, as long as your employees are accurately divided up into departments.

I think that requiring them to base it on Supervisor or Department (rather than a manual list of employees) is really the right way to go. Then as new employees are added to either, the updating of the report will take care of itself.
