Scheduling Backwards with time & materials started on Subassembl

Stay on 404A with your hotfix.
Confirmed with Epicor (MP) this bug is present again on 404B.
UGH!!! When will they ever get it right...?
Thanks again,

Three things I am looking for:
1. I am wondering if others out there have this business scenario
2. Advice on how others handle this business scenario
3. Confirm I have a bug on my hands

Business Scenario is as follows:
a. Make to Order Job
b. Finished Good Part is not in inventory
c. Not all details of Assembly 0 is known at the time the job is
being engineered, but can get started on subassemblies.
d. Create Subassemblies, Engineer/Release Job, and Schedule.
e. Time and materials are now on Subassembly operations
f. Final specs are in and Job Engineering finishes engineering
remaining operations on Assembly 0.
g. Job is rescheduled with Backwards choosen with the Job Due Date
of 5/30/08.

I have tested on 8.03.403C, 8.03.404/A & B and found a major issue.
All remaining load (operations started and operations to be started)
schedules forward from today's date. I have changed the Company
config setting to Allow Scheduling before Today and it makes no
difference. Oh...and I should mention the Operations are set to
Finish-to-Start Scheduling Factor.

It should schedule backwards from the Job Due Date...not today's date
forward? This is a bug...right?

Thanks in advance for your advice and comments.

This problem has driven us nuts for 2 years. I finally convinced
Support that it was happening to us. They sent us a fix program for
404A, and built the fix into 404B.

So for two years we had an ERP system that did not schedule correctly
for us. So many features were useless. But now it is fixed.

If you tested 404B and it is not fixed, then you may have a different
problem. Our call number was 2735276MPS. We would do a backwards
schedule and override constraints, and the scheduling would forward
schedule from today's date. We are not going to 404B, but are on
404A with our fix program.

Same result finite and infinite?
Have you 'done the math' and determined backward from 5/30 is sufficient time through your resource capacities?

If not, it WILL reverse direction and forward schedule. ("Allow Scheduling before Today" only impacts in process ops if I recall correctly.)

Yes, plenty of time on the resources it calls for.

I think Peter's response is 100% accurate. We have been going back
and forth with Epicor for the last 2 years too on how the scheduling
program works.
Thanks
