Chris,

We have a Shop Load Report that lists all open jobs by work center based
upon their scheduled start dates. It includes the crew sizes and total
shop labor load by work center. You can get the information for one day
or a number of days, the week, etc. It summarizes the work load by day,
within department, within work center and gives you the total work load.
I think this would give you what you are looking for. If you'd like
I'll send it to you off-line.
Idea for the group to comment on:
Schedule board does not match data collection screen.
Would it be beneficial to all to show on the Visual Schedule board after the
job number (C=Current, A=Available, E=Expected) or maybe a radio button on
the top of the schedule board with two choices 1) to sort by (C=Current,
A=Available, E=Expected) then by start date or 2) to sort by pure start
date.
I'm just trying to put my scheduler (Visual Scheduling Board) and machine
operators (Work Queue) on the same sheet of music.

Detailed Description of the actual Problem.
My machine operator is looking to see what to put on his machine next. He
see's current work and job V100 that has a start date of tomorrow. He start
putting this on the machine. Expected work shows job V200 that has a start
date of yesterday. The scheduler's schedule board shows V200 then V100 in
start date order and says why didn't you run them in the order I told you
to?

Pat,

I believe the theory here is that you should only show the operators the
jobs that are at their machines. Doesn't the "Expected work" field imply
the jobs aren't available yet ?

Todd,

If I schedule START-FINISH your are correct. If I schedule FINISH-FINISH and
want my operations to overlap why shouldn't data collection show both
operations as CURRENT. I also realize that if I turn in labor hours on the
second operation with will then move to CURRENT but I want it in CURRENT
before this happens so this data collection Employee knows to run this job.

Patrick,

We used to detail schedule for the past year. While I have not verified
this, I suspect scheduling START-START would clear the expected work as
they are supposed to start together. The FINISH-FINISH may imply the
same, but it may not as scheduling probably will not clear "Expected
Work" until you start the first operation.

I have looked at the code it looks at sequential operations on the same work
center but does not consider and SS,FF or SF conditions.

Hi Patrick

We're right with you on this one. I've just been asked if I can write a
report that replicates Current, Available and Expected as per the Work
Queue.

I operators are instructed that they only look at the first ten jobs in
Current Work only. Management are advised that if the job they want isn't
in there it won't get done -seems to work!
