Scheduling issue

Hello Everyone,

We are having the scheduling issue just for one resource center. We have an issue when the start date of the resource is way early but all other operations start date is way far in the future. We don’t know what is causing this but this problem is creating too much work for the first operation and we have to keep bringing material in. Can someone please advise what could be the issue here and how we can resolve this? Our all resources are finite.

Are you scheduling forward or backward ? Also, do you have constrained (or purchase direct) materials on the job ?

We are doing backward scheduling and yes, we have constrained material for all jobs.

Two things you can check:

  1. When backward scheduling in finite, if you get a gap, the problem may be that the resource is simply not available in the gap. Check the load on the resource, calendars, etc.

  2. When scheduling backward, if the calculated start date is in the past, depending on your configurations, the job can be “bounced”. It is now scheduled forward with start date = today. When that happens, the load on the resource or your constrained material can cause a gap in the schedule.
