Thanks for your response Rob. I was perhaps a bit unclear as to what I
was looking for. What I meant as far as process flow, I was looking more
at how my schedulers are going to start off their day. Is it going to be
better to review Job Status maint. / or go through the scheduled shipments
report 1st; or look at the job scheduling board 1st / shop load reports
1st?........this is where their most confusion/frustration seems to be
coming from.
Example of how their day runs now:
Meeting with plant floor personnel----review an open order (Customer
shipment) report & determine that all product is on schedule / on-time.
Review releasable order report / cut shop orders accordingly
Run dispatch reports
Prepare schedules for floor personnel
Prioritize which product / machines / lines run 1st
This is just part of the day. We currently distribute manual schedules
created in Excel & prioritize using spreadsheets, etc. Even our Open
Order Report is a customized report providing the majority of info that we
need, & I cannot find anything in the Vantage reports providing that same
info.
Example:
Item# Description Status Order Qty Qty shipped
Bal.Due Qty.in Stock Rem.Bal Wip Qty OS Qty
Comments/Notes (This is a field that was created for Prod. Control
(If on Hold) (At sub-contract) to
input any notes comments)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again
Carol

Re: [Vantage] Scheduling Process Flow
Going on a 15 hour day here and I'm fuzzy...
When you say flow do mean you production control process flow & shop floor
execution process flow?
Or do you mean your physical manufacturing process flow (how to model it
via resources, methods, etc.,)?
How are you scheduling now? Finite/Infinite, Forward/Backward, serial OPs,
parallel OPs, multiple contraints per OP or single? Computerless cellular
or Lean/flow kan-ban pull?
Where are you coming from? What is it the decision makers felt Vantage
would do beneficially for you? (Where can you make brownie points?)

Our manufacturing company will be implementing the Vantage 8.03.405
software in the near future. The software is going to completely change
the flow process we have followed with our current system. We will also
be using the MES software. We have been having some difficulty in
trying to map out the daily flow of the scheduling process. Can anyone
provide me with some suggestions or examples of the basic steps you follow
in your daily processes?
Thanks much
Carol
