Scrap cost

It uses actuals. Not standards. Doesn't matter if you have
the parts flagged as Last, Average, or Standard. Poor
design.

Hi Everyone,

We are planning to replace our Label Printer and Packing Slip Printer
located in two departments. I would appreciate knowing what works best
for you, which printers you recommend and the advantages and
disadvantages.

Label Printer Advantages and/or Disadvantages Packing Slip
Printer Advantages and/or Disadvantages

We understand there are several methods of printing three copies of the
packing slips, e.g., color paper in several bins of a printer,
multi-part forms. We would like to know your views on which works best
for you and with Vantage.

Method of Printing

Thanks in advance for your help.

Steve:

In my opinion, a lot depends on your volume. We are moving soon and will
replace our label printer at that time, but right now we are using HP2100
lasers for packing slip and P.O. printing. We buy the paper preprinted with
our logo, in sets of three colors and just print 3 copies. But our volume
in that area is relatively small-maybe fifty pack slips a day (and that's
when we're busy). The big-time HP lasers are just too much for us right
now, but the 2100 sure does the job. We use it for some labels as well.
The three-part collated paper works well for us, and with the lasers, we
gain flexibility that we didn't have with the dot-matrix printers.

Hope this helps,

We just implemented multi-part Packing Slips on an old Okidata-391 dot
matrix printer. The slips are 8.5" X 8.5" very similar to what we used with
Classic. Modifying the Crystal report took about 1/2 hour. Benefit is that
it was cheaper than buying another laser printer.

I am in the process of trying to program an old Zebra Stripe 553 printer for
labels using Zebra printer command codes embeded in a Crystal report
modification of the Vantage shipping labels. Disadvantage is the obscure
control codes, advantage is ability to make customer specific versions to
meet their requirements. Alternative is another laser printer and trying to
find 4 label 4"X6" (or close) on one sheet. Then the standard barcode fonts
and line drawing could be used.

Does anyone know how vantage calculates scrap cost after you run the
material through the QC procedures and actually scrap something out. I
can't get my calculations and Vantage's to match up. Are there any known
bugs that I should be aware of with this?

We are on Vantage 4.00.904

Any input would be helpfull.
