Scrap Costs

If a user enters a scrap quantity through the data collection screen, are the cost associated with that scrap? If so, where would I find that information on the scrap cost.

Thanks,
Jasper

Has anyone come up with a report that details scrap costs? I guess what
I'm looking for is depending at what step in the process that the scrap
occurred at, what would be the cost of the part based on material,
burden, subc, etc.... Not sure if this is even possible or not. Currently
we are on Vantage 5.0.320

Thanks in advance

We are wanting to switch from tracking scrap manually to letting vantage do
this for us. Employees are beginning to enter scrapped parts against a job
via data collection. How do we isolate the cost and quantity of parts
scrapped from a management perspective? I don't see any scrap reports and I
am not sure how the costs flow through the system.

Please feel free to call off list if you want. Thanks.

We had the same concerns Mitch. Items reported as scrap
reduce the job yield, and proportionately increase the per piece costs,
but the data doesn't make it to the ledger.

We have switched to having the operator report his scrap as a
non-conformance.

That way we do the Inspection processing and force the costs to an account
of our choice.

Extra steps in the overall effort, but the only way we could find of
capturing the dollars.

I recently downloaded a report from the group which seemed to be giving me the correct costs for scrap. I have not had a chance to really investigate it, but the little bit of work I did seemed to indicate that it was giving me the costs for scrap at the point where the scrap was recorded. Take a look on Vantage yahoo group, the report is called Scrap2.prl, it actually contains several different reports.

Does anybody know how you would calculate scrap cost from scrap entered in from Labor entry and material that gets scraped from the DMR process?

Thanks,
Jasper
