Scrap Reporting

Tim,
We had to create our own BAQ and copy/paste it to Excel to do some final tweaking. We have done a couple of different variations -
1. Just Scrap.
2. All job quantities including Scrap.
We just completed one for the whole year of 2009 - we ran it by month and then totaled for the whole year.

I wanted to how other companies are handling actual component scrap in Vantage 8.0. Operational scrap can be reported in MES. How can you capture raw material scrap once it has been issued?
If you wanted to capture all the data related to the scrap in Vantage,
I'd image that you'd have to create a Job Material NCR for it.

If it is truly bad raw material (and not good raw material lost on a production OP as not meeting spec after OP processing) do a job (raw) material inspection and report the bad material as inspection fail (then disposition through DMR module).

Thank you for the information Rob. We are actually in the process of upgrading to Vantage 4.08.408A from 4.08.305.
I have been advised to concentrate on the Production scrap for now. We would love to include wasted Labor $'s depending on which Operation the scrap was reported as well as the cost of the Raw Material. We are using a Standard Burden rate instead of actual Labor, so I am hopeful, I can come up with something.

I will start looking in the tables you listed and see what I can come up with. I appreciate the heads up about the part costs.

Sincerely,

Stephen

I posted a Microsoft Access database to this group that calculates "actual" cost for scrap reported in MES.
It would be a solution that is outside of Vantage but it works well.
