Scrap - serial # issue

Can anyone tell me how I can fix a problem we are having. If we report production and scrap out a part, we do not get an option to scrap out a "serialized" part if the part in question has been serialized. HOWEVER, if we move it to Nonconformance first and then scrap it, we get the option to input a serial # of the scrapped part. Is there any way to have this same functionality in the normal scrap process and not have to send it to nonformance first? Thanks!
