Script appserver and db restart

Hi Beth,

Mike has outlined some reasons why he is starting his appservers but why
are you restarting yours everynight?

I need to do it for performance reasons.

Mike,

Thanks for the script. I am going to try this out because I manually
stop
and start the task agent and process server nightly. One thing, I was
taught to stop the process server first, then the task agent but when
starting them back up to do it in reverse order. Does this matter?

Some other quick notes:

- The dbman and asbman utilities are in your oe102a\bin directory.
- dbman stops your database server and looks like this:
dbman -stop -db Epicor905
- Both utilities have a pretty handy query mode that shows you all sorts of good stuff from the command line. Run the command by itself and you'll see all the other parameters you can pass it.

Mike,

Thanks for the script. I am going to try this out because I manually
stop
and start the task agent and process server nightly. One thing, I was
taught to stop the process server first, then the task agent but when
starting them back up to do it in reverse order. Does this matter?

Thanks Mike.

Does asbman wait until the appserver reaches a "Not Running" state
before moving on the next step?

Here is one I use (for unix) but I think the commands are the same...

asbman -name epicor905-ProcessServer -stop > /tmp/oemaint.txt

asbman -name epicor905-TaskAgent -stop >> /tmp/oemaint.txt

asbman -name epicor905 -trimservers 13 >> /tmp/oemaint.txt

asbman -name epicor905-ProcessServer -start >> /tmp/oemaint.txt

asbman -name epicor905-TaskAgent -start >> /tmp/oemaint.txt

EMAIL=`cat /usr/bin/scripts/maillist`

export EMAIL

mailx -s "epicor AppServer Maintenance" $EMAIL < /tmp/oemaint.txt

Subject: [Vantage] Script appserver and db restart

Hello,

Is it possible to stop and start appservers and dbs from a script?

I'd like to stop and restart our live environment each night using a
scheduled task.

Thanks.
