We had this problem on XP machines - installed Microsoft Mouse IntelliPoint
v4.12 (not the newest v5.0) and they work fine. I had 1 user "upgrade" to
the latest version, 5.??, and the scrolling quit working. I uninstalled the
new version, reinstalled 4.12 and it worked fine. A perfect case of "if it
ain't broke, don't upgrade it".

Yes we had the same problem when upgrading pc's. Researching the issue we
found that Progress does not officially support scrolling, eventhough it
obviously works in many situations. We ended up using Mouse Wheel Control
from www.ardamax.com to fix scrolling in Vantage and also Outlook address
books.

Try searching the archives... someone on the list had the same problem,
and posted a share-ware utility that fixed it in Vantage and some other
programs. It was just posted in the last 2 or 3 months.

Nancy,

Did that fix the problem? We are experiencing that here too.

This was Vantage support's answer when I called them about it. I thought
the workaround was sarcastic.

Paul L.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

Mouses with wheels on them do not work in windows XP when trying to scroll
any list in vantage. It works outside of vantage just fine, just not
inside.

You are able to on windows 98, windows NT, and windows 2000

DTW( also had a customer with Windows 2000 call in that it does not work in
Progress 91D)

STEPS TO DUPLICATE

1) At a windows XP workstation that has a wheel mouse, log into vantage
2) Go into Sales Management -- Order Management -- General Operations --
Order Entry
3) Click on the binoculars to see the list of orders. Try scrolling down
the list with the wheel -- it will not work.
4) Go to Materials Managment -- Inventory Management -- Master File
Maintenance
5) Pick Part and try scrolling down that list with the wheel mouse. It will
not work.

WORKAROUND

Use the scroll bar to the right of the list.

Response from Progress -- Progress does not support the mouse wheel although
it does work on some operating systems.

NOTE: According to some users, if you use a Microsoft mouse and install
their Intellipoint software, the mouse wheel works just fine in
Vantage/Vista. You might be able to install Intellipoint for another brand
of mouse also.

Just a note, I just installed the intellipoint 4.12 driver (download
from Microsoft). My system has never been able to scroll despite using
many different Logitech drivers (specific for the mouse) over time. Now
it works. The Microsoft drivers on XP with a logistic mouse and it
works.
Give it a shot.
