The question is we have multiple companies but each represents a large firm ( similar to the large children of GE, all large different productions groups). Within on COMPANY we have some so large they have multiple plants, can security be placed for each plant to prevent displaying the SO/PO/Parts from another plant?

Thanks in advance!

Yikes. I can give some severely creative thoughts.....but to lock down certain PO/SO/Job/Part records so only certain security groups can see them is doable. Flag a UD field in each respectable header record, have a customized SO/PO/Part screen for each Plant and change the search button to use a custom BAQ search to filter only parts/SOs/POs “in this plant security group”.

Depending on how many secure plants you have per company, I can see this as being a nightmare to implement, manage and support, however.

I don't know how embedded you are with your current configuration, but my
first instinct would be to slice them into different companies. (Assuming
it won't mess with your financials and such in an unacceptable way.)

Actually, I think you could do this pretty easily with a couple BPMs. You'd
need two method directives for each entity (PO,SO,etc) you want to restrict.
On Update: Tag the record with the appropriate plant and cancel the update
if they somehow managed to open a record from the wrong plant.
On GetByID: Cancel the call if the plant on the record doesn't match the
current plant.

That wouldn't stop things from showing up in lists when you search, but it
would prevent people from opening/editing objects from other plants. You
may end up needing to wire up a few other methods as well, but you get the
idea. As long as you keep your security plant-based and don't try anything
more exotic, you should be able to wrangle this without creating anything
too crazy.

Probably...
