We manufacture trailers. We require a 17 digit DOT VIN #. We have a mod
created that allows us to generate the proper VIN based on the model
being manufactured. The button to create these is in the "Assign Serial
number" screen in Vantage. We mostly create these at shipping input and
then apply them to the trailer.

We currently use an Access Database to manage our serial numbers. We
manually assign these serial numbers at the point of Vantage at the
point of shipping. We would like Vantage to handle this completely, but
keep getting hung up on the timing of things.

Each machine is marked with a serial number, and are marked well before
shipping. Is there anybody else who has found a solid way to assign the
serial number at the job / sales order level?

Have you tried the Assign Serial Number program in Job Management | General
Ops? Do you ship from Jobs or Stock?
