Service Connect Class

We had a SC trainer come in Feb '07 which was great, but terrible
documentation, then the don't use it, lose it effect set in and we had
to attend class in Mpls for a few days to catch up in July.. They were
saying a manual would be available sometime in August. It sounds like
Epicor finally produced it.

Thanks!

Clinton Edwards
Trinity Yachts
I just took the class in Chicago in October. Class was very helpful.
The instructor was very knowledgeable about SC. The documentation was
not very good though. At the end of the class, we were informed that
Epicor sells better documentation for a price. Take LOTS of notes!

Was this class on the full version of Service Connect or just the
runtime or did they cover both?

Thanks in advance!

I took the class. It was a good class. The class was for basic data
entry.

Even with the class, we are struggling with some more difficult
Imports. I found that it's not as easy as Epicor makes it sound. I
used similar products from our Vendors that are much easier and cheaper.

Service Connect uses the Epicor Web Services. My instructor suggested
that if you are a good programmer, then you can call the web services
without Service Connect. The import would be much faster, because you
wouldn't be using the Epicor UI. However, you would have to really
know how to build XML.

I attended the Oct class in Chi. 4 day class delivered over 5 days
because of poor training materials. Examples were valuable and
instructor very knowledgable, but delivery was more consultative than
instruction based. Best to have some experience with SC before going
to the class. You should order ($50) or demand a copy of the SC
manual, it's very good.

Hey Tim,

You sat next to me! So that manual is a big help then? I really need
to get an SC app for importing orders.

Yes, order the SC manual. It will help you.
