Service Connect: Error Number

In Service Connect, I want to be able to split out my workflows based on what the error message is, like for instance, if the web method expires because our backup is taking place, I'd like it to restart from the beginning. I was hoping that the error number field was my ticket, but it always seems to be the same. Am I missing something here?
