At this point we are scheduling Backwards FINITE, with approximately 1/3
of our resources constrained finitely (gateway work centers, bottlenecks
etc.) , the other 2/3 infinite. We haven't yet tested forward finite,
or any of the infinite combinations because that is not how we intend to
run, but it might be interesting to see if there is a correlation. We
are start to finish on op seq rules. There are a few instances where we
could conceded to actually stopping a started operation and doing a
change over, but that would definitely be an exception to the rule for a
job to move out that significantly, but as you may well already know,
just running MRP without running global plays hell with your dispatch
report, so we always global reschedule when we run MRP. Having to check
that box to get ops to reschedule correctly can cause some minor
irritations, and we have developed some procedures to minimize it for
the time being. Right now we are experimenting on the optimal timing
and frequency of our MRP/Global run.

Good to know. (Thx Rob.)
Can I assume it's consistent whether or not the jobs are FWD/BKWD
scheduled or resources are finite/infinite (or a mix) or for any of the
possible OP to OP seq rules are defined in the MoMs?
I shudder to say it, but my expectations of scheduling have been beaten
so low... I could live with this as long as it's consistent! (:o

The schedule started operations button is not functioning correctly. We
found (and Epicor reproduced) that if a Job has a started operation and
the box is not checked it wont reschedule most if any operations on that
job during a global scheduling run. When the box is checked it will
reschedule started operations and all other operations. So in effect it
seems to be completely ineffective when not checked (which is a state
that should allow rescheduling of operations not started).
