Shop Schedule for 8.03.405A

Lynn

They are calculated fields that use palin old available table.field data to produce info that is pertinent to our process management.

Just hit the Calc but when you have either of them highlighted & you'll see the Progress code producing their output values for each record.

Dear Rob:

I cannot figure out where the data is coming from for those BAQ
columns named HOTHrs and HrsRmng.

Those names don't appear in the tablename.fieldname list of available
columns.

Is it possible when material is backflushed to pull from
different/multiple bins? It seems that when material is backflushed,
it pulls from the primary warehouse and primary bin for that warehouse,
and I don't see an option for anything different. Thanks in advance.

Adam you can set up your resource group to backlfush to a certain warehouse and bin so when that part is processed through the operation tied to that resource group thats where it will backflush from

405a introduced a new quirk (which I don't necessarily think is a bug) re backflushing.

Prior to 405, the backflush warehouse bin assigned to the resource the OP the material is associated with would determine where the backflush is done from.

In 405, we found that unless you also have specified a backflush warehouse bin at the resource GROUP (not leaving it blank) Vantage will backflush from the 1st (alphanumeric ascending sort) bin it finds in the warehouse that has been marked as primary for the part. It doesn't seem to matter if you have also specified a primary bin for that warehouse or not.

We just discovered this new behavior this week when experimenting offline on some new fab kanbans we want to set up.

Not 3 hours ago, I just spent an hour adding backflush warehouse bins to our several hundred resource groups in order to overcome the problem.

Again - I not sure it can be called a bug as, with Vantage's penchant for using object oriented 'inheritence' paradigms all over the system, if the backflush process checks a resource group and finds no specified warehouse bin to backflush from, it may be correct for it to stop right there and not go down to the specific scheduled resource to check for an over-riding warehouse bin (that may differ for the specific resource from the resource's resource group backflush warehouse bin).

It is annoying though that it was not included in the release notes.

Thank you both for the input. I don't know how I missed that option
in the resource group screen!! That is exactly what I needed to know.

Can we add that to the bottom of every message? Maybe buttons for
Perspectives? ;-)
Does anyone have a shop schedule that will show operations by Resource
group by start date of the operation instead of by operation. We have
50+ welders and it is difficult for the welding supervisor to use the
Progress report to see what they need to be expediting because of how
the report breaks it down by operation.

Andrew,

A few months ago I uploaded a dashboard that could probably be easily tweaked to suit your needs (or made into a BAQreport). It's barebones simple but it works.

Some of the BAQ table.columns may not be pertinent to your process but you can add or remove as needed and then reset your sorts as desired.

A nightly BAQ export of the underlying BAQ actually has replaced our dispatch. (The csv export output acts as the datasource for a task scheduled excel report with an Auto_Open vbscript to auto refresh, print and save for online use).

Dear Rob:

I downloaded the 3 files that you posted for this dashboard. I
successfully imported the BAQ named VPI96470-MSResSchBrd.xml. I
tested it and it returns a dataset with no errors.

However, I cannot import the dashboard. Vantage is looking for
a .dbd file.

When I downloaded the file named MSResSchBrd.dbd, it actually saved
to my harddrive as MSResSchBrd.xml with the wrong file extension.

Am I doing something wrong?

Lynn

You have to import the dashboard from the xml I uploaded. It'll then save as a dbd.

Success!

I forced the Import Dashboard Definition to look for all files
instead of *.dbd files. Upon selecting the .xml, I got an error that
the BAQ did not exist.

So, I exited and opened the .xml in Microsoft Word and replaced the
prefix on the BAQ name with the prefix for my company. I resaved the
xml file.

Then my Import Dashboard Definition was successful.

Thanks a lot!

Lynn
