We have some pretty simple-minded users who continually quadruple++
click on the Vantage Icon to call up the program causing the app to
launch several times and killing their local resources. Is there a way
to limit Vantage to only launching once?

Yes it can be done, but not directly from vantage itself.

You need to have an application or script that is used to launch vantage, then have it check to see if itself is already running, then you could close it, otherwise have it launch vantage.

The client startup parameter of -wss will allow only one prowin32 to
execute. If you could incorporate that into your icon, it should
fix the problem.

There was also a VBS script file I got from a Matt Worzala in this group
some time ago. It was written in Jan 2000. I don't know if he is still
around or not.



You set you shortcut to this script and it checks to see if Vantage is
already running and if not it launches Vantage. If Vantage is already
running it tells you it is and quits.



If Matt is still around you can get it from him. If not, I am sure he
wouldn't mind if I shared it.



I run it on all my data collection terminals.
