Simple time clock implementation

I need to implement a time clock. Currently, hourly folks just use MES, but I need to get away from having that behind a Windows authentication. I see the Scheduling+ module/sub can do this, but it brings a lot of features I do not need. Same with 3rd party solutions. Is there an existing mobile app I could run on a dedicated tablet that would be reasonably user-friendly? I’m about to just install some things on a spare device, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask how other folks are accomplishing this.

Your profile indicates you’re on Gov Cloud. There is a Kinetic Time Entry app (available for both iOS and Android, get it from the appropriate app store) that might work for you… it MAY require an additional module (depending on how you are already licensed).

Is that from Biscit?

the copyright information says Epicor, Google Play store also says Epicor Software Corporation.

I found “Epicor Kinetic Time Entry”, but it’s published by Kairos Business Solutions.

In the Google Play Store, the one I have installed on my phone is called Epicor Time Management. I don’t have an Apple device, but looking in the Apple App Store from my PCs browser it also shows the same app, “Epicor Time Management”, also by Epicor.

OK, thanks - that’s the one that looked most promising to me, but at a glance it looks geared more towards labor details. I guess I should play with it and see if it can be “dumbed down”. I can already imagine someone coming in a couple minutes late and having a meltdown because they are confused by the interface.

My credentials didn’t work, but maybe I didn’t type the URL correctly. But, looking at this, I can’t even see how a machinist or assembler would use it to clock in or out.

Do you really need to ditch MES to get away from SSO? You should be able to launch web MES from the browser. Then use a MES service account that doesn’t use SSO.

Browser is probably the correct path. Thank you… imagination fails me sometimes.

I circled back to this and got Epicor running in a browser on a tablet. It was painfully unresponsive. It’s possible that a newer, more powerful tablet would be better, but I’m thinking I either need scheduling+ or some simple integration.

Justin, do your MES users all have their own Epicor login? And I’m not talking employeeID.

Also, how are you handling the fact that from the Data Collection url you can get to other parts of the menu like Sales or Production, etc., did you adjust menu security settings?

Yes, and yes. Machinists and assemblers typically just have the MES security group (built-in). I’m not sure what menu access that group includes/excludes, but if we need to narrow it, I know how.

Do they share workstations? Like do they all use the same workstation?

Yes and no. They work in cells, generally, so 2-3 to a workstation. But they are accustomed to walking past one such workstation with MES open and ready as they come in the door. I can’t sustain that, without locking down everything BUT clock-in/out.
