Site to Site Pass Throughs

For those that are site to site, does anyone out there have a scenario where Site A creates a PO and has Site B pick it up for them, and then shuttle it to Site A? If so, is material average cost?

Would you have Site B be the recipient of the PO and then do a transfer order back to Site A?

What other ways is anyone achieving this? If at all.

Thanks,
Randy

Is there any charges by Site B for transport, or is it just a free service. the simplest way is to have it purchased in site b and transferred to site A

Hi Andy,
The only costs that transfer are the material costs. Part of the concern is that if the material is received in Site B and then transferred to Site A before receiving the PO to be paid when the cost can change.

If that happens Site B would get hit with the PO variance when the material had already been sent to Site A where that variance should have gone. Steel always has fluctuating costs. Sometimes we receive and ship prior to receiving the invoice.

We are trying to figure a simple way to make this process work. I don’t know if there is a way to still have the variance hit Site A instead of Site B via some G/L rule maybe?

Hi, yes, i am used to working with these issues, I used to work for a company that purchased high nickel alloys, and the nickel price was a constant variance.

In which case the easy option is site A buys it, site b pick it up and it is received in Site A, it shouldn’t be too difficult for site b t see when it is available and to update the promise date for when they are going to pick it up

Hi Andy,
So our scenario is Site A enters the PO. Site B picks up the material “today”. The receipt is not entered into the system until Site B transfers the material up to Site A in which Site A then receives the material in, which could be 3-4 days later.

The problem is the gap in-between when we actually pick up the material and it is “received” into the system.

We would rather not have Site B log into Site A to receive material. That was toyed around with by having it received into a specific “PassThru” bin at Site A until it actually was received, but we are trying to find best options without trying to do a customization of some sort.

Hi, i think you will struggle without any mods, obviously someone in site B can mark the PO as arrived, and then can be received into Site B when it is finally delivered.
