Smart Client is broken

Same…we’ve been browser based since day one, only “client” stuff I’ve used is DMT.

The latest .NET and Windows updates causes a lot of issues across apps. Probably where I’d start.

Right now, the only way to completely avoid this issue is to access a Kinetic/ERP environment in a way that doesn’t involve using the installed Windows Smart Client.

Status page still says the issue is resolved.

Understood…we’re in the clear here, just trying to see what if anything I could do to help.

@chaddb is right - .NET and Windows apps would be a good starting point. Only other things I’d add is if there’s now a requirement for local admin rights (as that seems to occasionally blow up installs).

Here’s a longshot - does Smart Client leverage any of the same features/functions that made Chrome and Edge throw tantrums out of nowhere a week or two ago (requiring permissions changes for popup/redirect, auto-download, clipboard and apps-on-device)?

EDIT - worth trying to simply launch Smart Client with “run as administrator”?

@aidacra any update on this you can share?

we had support do an IIS reset last night.
I checked with users this morning and so far it looks good. No failures or Errors.
I do not have any feedback on what was changed and I am not doing the “Victory Dance” until we have 24 hours of success - but it looks promising.

Have them put that on the task scheduler lol.

Hi,
does anybody know if this has been ultimately solved and if so, how was solved? For us the smart screens (like dashboards etc) do not work and we can access Epicor only via the browser version

Mr. @Toffe: No clue what the fix was. we put in a ticket with support and they got it working.
