Spam: Joc Creation

We also need the ability to create Jobs for parts that do not exist
in the part master. We do this for tooling jobs as well as
prototypes.

Yes, you can and it drives me nuts. I created a couple reports using CorVu to show me sales orders and jobs with no corresponding part in the part master. Another part of this is when my engineers quote a part #, but when it is ordered the part # is changed by a dash or something and that part is created which doesn't match the quoted part. Customer Service creates an order from the Quote, creating a sales order for the quoted part that doesn't exist in the partmaster. The only way this is caught at order entry time is if the order is partly or all for stock. Then I get a call this ***__*** system won't let me do my job. I have asked engineering to see if they could change the part number on the quote to correspond with the ordered part number but that would take to much time. This is an issue that can really gum up the works.

Can you create a job for a part that does not exist in the part master?

Thanks,

Jasper

For us this is a very common occurrence. We have contract manufacturing,
custom builds , and retail sales which we facilitate through sales
orders/quotes for non-inventoried parts.

But, see, it is great for us -- we don't keep our Tooling in inventory, thus
don't want them in the part master, so we like to be able to create jobs for
parts not in the part master.

One of those danged if you do--danged if you don't things.
