Hi all,
We have had some lively discussion on how to set up our salespeople
and territories within Vantage 8.03.400 (specifically where the info
is captured for us at the quote entry level). It's hard for me to
believe our situation is unique, but perhaps it is: we want to
establish an inside salesperson as the primary contact since that
person is a constant resource and always available on the desk,
phone, etc for customers and reps. We want this person to field any
global alerts pertaining to quotes or orders--again, b/c this person
is always accessible. We want to populate the commissioned sales rep
field with our manufacturers rep information (not direct employees of
ours) in order to calculate commissions, track activity, etc.
however, Vantage wants both of these fields to reflect the same
information. Since our manufacturers reps don't have access to
Vantage, it doesn't make sense for them to be established as primary
contact. Epicor tells us that there is no way to have two different
people in these fields.

Is anyone else faced with this dilemma? Have you gotten creative to
figure out a way around this setup?

Thanks in advance to anyone who has taken the time to read this and
offer comment.

We added a drop down combo box to the VBFORM's on the customer file for
inside sales desk. And left it generic such as Desk1, Desk2, etc...
Works well for reports, dashboards, etc... dividing out our inside sales
desks.

Hi all,
We have had some lively discussion on how to set up our salespeople
and territories within Vantage 8.03.400 (specifically where the info
is captured for us at the quote entry level).

We added outside reps as Vantage Sales Reps. Our situation goes one
step further & we can have split commission between the inside guy &
the outside guy. I added some UltraCombos to Customer Entry. I
then tied them to the sales rep adapter. I also added two numeric
editors to put in different commissions than what is set on the
standard rep, if we wanted. When a sales order is created & you
choose the customer code is run. It looks at those fields in the
customer record & if they are not null then overwrites the Rep &
commission info in the sales order header. We still have the
primary contact set up as the actual "Vantage" rep though.
