There is an excel spread sheet from Tech Support
which shows every table/field change from 4.0, 5.0, 5.1

It zips to 1.7 meg

I will upload it to the file site.

Is there a file anywhere that clearly defines the changes between
Vantage 5.0 and 5.1. Does anyone care to comment if they feel now is
a good time to upgrade to 5.1. We have been on Vantage for about 9
months now. We have only worked with 5.0 and things are going pretty
well. I don't want to upgrade and send all of my users into a
panic. Thanks.
Personnaly, I like to stay one rev back. It tends to give you a more mature
product, a chance for more user suggestions to get into the next rev, If you
have custom programing you get more life out of that custom program. We are
on 5.0 now when the next Major rev after 5.1 comes out then we'll look at
switching. Its too much hassle to jump each minor rev.

We just upgraded from 5.0 to 5.1 last month and very little problems. It
went smoothly and other than the squacking about report problems when fields
were changed all users did fine. I sure wish there was an easier way to
handle custom reports and get them updated. It took almost a week to update
all report builder and crystal reports!!!

In the installation instructions for 5.1 (downloadable), there is a list of
all the changes between 5.0 & 5.1. After all of the initial hassles with
5.0, I stayed at 4.0 until 5.1 was out - and I won't ever upgrade two levels
again: too hard to untangle whether your question is about 5.0 or 5.1. But
my biggest upgrade problems were my own, not Epicor's, and they really
helped me when I called tech support in desperation during the process.

For us, 5.1 has been a fairly smooth upgrade, and is nicely stable,
regardless of new patches. Most of our issues are those that were covered
on the list (why, exactly, did they change the totals on the Sales Analysis
report? What is causing some of my completes in labor edit to show in one
place and not another? Why is it that I can't get a decent scrap report
anymore, when there was a perfectly good one in 4.0?)

The users are all pretty happy with the changes, and accounting is glad that
the QC part is working the way they want it to. I'm actually looking
forward to moving on to 5.2-but Shirley makes a good point - I won't ever be
the first one to load a new version, although I might be in the first
"bunch."

Lydia

P.S. Rather drive a Yukon, though.
