I have to agree, Epicor needs to fix this. It's as simple as 1-2-3:
HEY EPICOR ARE YOU LISTENING!!!
1) Add a timer control to the main Vantage.EXE file to cycle every 3-5
seconds.
2) Add the following API function to the program:
PROCEDURE FindWindowA EXTERNAL "user32.dll":U:
DEFINE INPUT PARAMETER lpClassName AS CHARACTER.
DEFINE INPUT PARAMETER lpWindowName AS CHARACTER.
DEFINE RETURN PARAMETER hwnd AS LONG.
END PROCEDURE. /* FindWindowA */
3) Then add the following under the timer control:
RUN FindWindowA("ProFrame":U, "System Login":U, OUTPUT Hwnd).
IF Hwnd <> 0 THEN DO:
RUN DestroySplash.
DISABLE Timer.
END.
-------------------------------------------------------
This is just my 2 cents on the subject.......

Subject: RE: [Vantage] Splash Screen Display Time
I agree with a simple rule out there that ALL software programs should
display a splash screen while and until the program is done loading.
No matter how long Vantage takes the splash screen should ONLY disappear as
soon as it is ready for a log in and not sooner.
I don't believe letting user's set their own time or even extending the time
of this splash screen will resolve the problem (not to mention this isn't
the "correct" way a splash screen should be programmed in the first place).
Also, the icon should not turn back to a pointer once the splash screen goes
away and Vantage is still sitting there loading (makes users believe the
computer isn't working; therefore, opens yet another session).
IN A PERFECT WORLD: Double-click the Vantage Icon, Splash screen appears
immediately, cursor turns to hour glass, Log in Screen is completely loaded
so it closes the splash screen, mouse turns back to normal pointer.
Just thought I'd add some of my thoughts on this matter as well, since I've
also been requesting this for a long time and "supposedly" they did "fix" it
at one point in a patch but all they did was lengthen the time the splash
screen stays on the screen which "fixes" nothing at all in my book, and
still causes me problems from people opening Vantage 50 times (true story by
the way).

Norton Corporate AV and, yes, disabling network scanning and also excluding
the mapped drive helps a lot. Average w/o scanning is 12 sec. which is
still too long for too many people. If the splash would just stick around
15 sec. it might be enough to make them wait.
