Splash screens

Aaron,

We also get the Beta splash screen when starting Vantage 3.0 remotely
with VNC. I have no idea why it happens. I can not even find the .bmp
file for the beta splash screen. I tried adding the vantage.exe to
the shortcut, but it did not fix the problem.

Unfortunately the only solution I know of is going to Vantage 4.0. We
are testing 4.0 now and we haven't had any beta screens starting
Vantage remoely through VNC.

Thanks alot for those bitmaps!! Looks nice and clean.

BTW, I still get the dumb Beta splash screens on my machine only. I
could not find any .bmp files that are of that image. Do you know why
or how to kill these things?

Just askin'

Thanks again!!

Rick,

I've never run into those beta splash screens ... The only idea I would have
would be to un-install the Vantage and Progress clients on your machine and
then re-install which is a fairly lame suggestion.

Anyone on the list know the correct answer to this question ?

P.S. It's nice to know you like the B&W splash screens - I used the eraser
in Paint Brush to zap down the images - An artist I'm not ... :-)

I have both v3 and v4 Vantage client installed on my workstation. After
re-installing v3 I got the v4 splash screen when I started v3. The fix from
Epicor was to edit the shortcut and change the command line to:

F:\Vantage\Vantage.exe F:\Vantage\Vantage.vtg

Maybe that would work to get rid of the beta splash also.

How about this one to add to the mix...I use ATT's free utility VNC (Virtual
Network Computing) http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ for a (PC Anywhere)
like interface to remotely fix problems with our data collection terminals.
When I start Vantage 3 physically from the work station I get the bitmaps we
use now, but when I do it through a remote connection (still clicking the
mouse on the same icon and all) I get the beta screen you speak of. I am
going to try changing the shortcut as suggested, but I thought this was just
strange enough for the group.
