SQL Deadlocks Blank Title 73689

Hey Karen, hope all is well at FB. Say HI to Bob Schmalz.

Thanks for the info below.

Since we also run Service Connect for our PLM, perhaps it's related!

Thank you very much!

Vic,

I am no SQL expert, but we had deadlocks for Demand Processing from
Service Connect...

[09/01/23@11:11:53.470-0600] P-004328 T-004656 1 AS -- (Procedure:
'db/trg/DemandSchedule/write.p' Line:492) 40001: [Microsoft][SQL Native
Client][SQL Server]Transaction (Process ID 117) was deadlocked on lock
resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock
victim. Rerun the transaction.

Steps below received from support - and seem to have resolved the
issue...

RESOLUTION:

1. Go the Vantage/Vista server.

2. Go to Start->Programs->Open Edge 10.0B->Progress Explorer Tool.

3. Expand the Database folder to MfgSys80, to Configurations, to

DefaultConfiguration.

4. Right-click on DefaultConfiguration and choose Properties.

5. Increase the # Lock Table Entries.

6. Increase that number to 409600 or higher. A multiple of 8192 is

recommended by Progress.

7. Click OK to save the changes.

These changes will not take effect until the DB is stopped and restarted

in the Progress Explorer Tool as follows:

Any SQL gurus out there know how I may fix Deadlock issues while running
MRP on my SQL database?

I have already went through the Epicor SQL Performance Tuning guide....
Thank you!

Do you have the Vantage SQL lock utility?

A lock utility was written by one of the programmers which would tell you
what process was locking a record at any given instance...

Generally this is something that needs to be solved with the help of epicor,
since it will probably involve a code tweak somewhere.

I would get in touch with support as soon as you can, make sure to ask for
it to be escalated as well as asking for the SQLLockUtil, and you need to
setup verbose logging if you haven't already.
