SSRS Design - Dumpster Fire

I truly had high hopes that Epicor was going to fix the SSRS Design in 2025.2, however it appears I will have to cry myself to sleep another 6 months :frowning:

After testing multiple customers I am unable to get Classic OR Kinetic to work properly.

I do have a workaround for the Classic error - so i am not totally dead in the water - but the Kinetic UI I do not have a workaround.

Yes i did download the new Edge Agent. I even uninstalled the old one first and then rebooted and then installed the new Edge Agent.

I know @aosemwengie1 has expressed frustration - we cannot be the only 2?

Oh no! I haven’t yet had to edit a report but our Pilot just got 25.2 this weekend.

I was told classic at least would be fixed in 2025.1.14. Alas its still broken.

I did find that App Studio in 25.2 I can’t open a layer to edit. Only way I can is to open the app I want to edit from the menu and open App Studio from there. :dumpster_fire:

What’s the error? So if I try and design one it breaks?

Thanks for the tip Randy - that insight will save me a pile of hair on the floor

@utaylor I get errors mostly trying to “publish” the SSRS Design. Epicor lets me download and modify the report. However I need to use Classic UI and point the upload to a ridiculous long path c:\users<UserName>\Appdata\local\Epicor\EdgeAgent\6071\SSRSReports\centralusdtpilot28.epicorsaas.com_SaaS784Pilot\Reorts\CustomReports\QuoteForm

Now it doesn’t give an error when publishing, the changes are just not actually published.

It’s still worse than in classic, but I’ve been able to upload in Kinetic UI.

You need to download the reports.zip, extract it, edit the extracted version, then copy-paste the edited RDL file back into reports.zip to overwrite the one in there. Then you can upload reports.zip.

And if you click on an app in app studio it opens up a different layer!

I saw this several times after the 2025.2 update but cannot repeat it now.

AppStudio: click the layer name, it’d prompt ‘base or layer’, click layer, opens < new layer >.

Seems fine now(?)

Your not the only 2… Im just not being as vocal ( maybe I should be…)

This is what I have been doing all along and it has worked.

Also, to clarify, the file MUST BE NAMED reports.zip

It can’t be orderack.zip or reports (1).zip, only reports.zip.

Feels like a good candidate for CI/CD. Although, I wonder how it will change for Bold Reports?

Using Chrome or Edge… I am using Chrome and I can replicate all the time… Maybe it’s a caching issue.

No, as soon as I hover-over a layer name (link) this shows up

I see the bulk import, which is nice. Have to see if they have an API to avoid the click-ops and automate the upload.
