Stock History

Hi Mike

The historical value on the stock status report (V8), from what I have
found has a bug.

If you make an adjustment to cost with a backdated transaction date
(tested with average), the average can go even lower than any average in
its transaction history.

I have looked into it and I think it's due to the average calculation in
the system working off the system date, but the report must work off the
transaction date.

I think that explains it

One thing to be aware of on the Stock Status report is that when you run
this report in the past to get a historical on-hand quantity and value,
the cost is the cost for the part at the time that the report is run,
not what it was on the historical date.

Hope this helps,

Hi Gary,

I can get the qtys right ok, but in terms of value I can't get it to
work on some parts. One part in particular is lot costed , always
has been, but there are some very strange ADJ-CST transactions which
I can't tie up. The stock status report is correct but mine is
failing.

Hi,

I am trying to create a report that provides the current stock total
and previous month totals split by part class. My starting point has
been the Parttran table. Is it possible to do this via that Parttran?
My initial attempts don't seem very encouraging. I can get the
quantities to match up against the stock status but I can't seem to
obtain the correct valuation. We are using a mixture of Lot and Last
costed parts.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Brychan

I would start with the current stock position (ie Part, Part Class and
PartWhse table) then subtract or add inventory transaction (parttran)
from it/to it based on the transaction date.

One of the issues might be the last cost that is in the part master
(6.1) partcost table (8.0) may have been a different cost in the
previous month.

Gary

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the below, there seems to be a cost adjustment on a lot
tracked component. Someone has been playing. Another tip I have
found, on lot tracked parts is to only select part tran records
where is a lot number.

I just need to verify what the adj-cst is doing. I'm quite happy to
include it and see the variance, this should match up closer to gl
once I get that far.
