Hello

I am looking for some help with Epicor, in relation to Subcontract.
Example. We have a part that is going out to a subcontract to be painted, that part is called xx1 and it will be painted Yellow and after 5 days it will return to us.

My question here is, when the part returns from our subcontracter, how can i store it in stock with a different part number, to diffrentiate between Raw Material and Semi Finished goods, because the now painted part will be used in finished good. And we also would like to calculate the yearly use of our different colors.

Thank you

You need a job for the part identity change to take place. You would have a Job, and probably a Method of Manufacture, The job would me Make to Stock. The material on the job would be the unpainted part and the operation would be for the subcontracted service. The Job makes the painted part and consumes the appropriate materials and subcontract services. When complete, it receives the painted part to inventory via Job Receipt to Inventory or Auto Receipt.

It used to be that each different color would most likely need to be a different part number. If they all cost the same, you might get away with the new functionality that allows for inventory by Part Rev and you could make a new Rev for each color.
