We attempted to do so recently. We quickly ran into a few issues. The first
issue was that the Shipping Computer (600 Mhz w/128 MB RAM) would run for
about a half hour, on a job with 500 serialized parts. It would however,
only take a minute or so, on an 850 with/256. The second issue was that the
stock Packing Slip Report, generated a page with all the numbers on it. We
have serialized jobs with as many as 10,000 parts, so the report needed to
be modified (Quickly). Then we started getting error messages for any job
with over 2000 parts. I placed a call to Tech Support, and was told that I
would have to break the Packing Slip down into smaller parts. The Accountant
just about came out of her skin on that one. We ultimately decided to stop
using this feature. We are on version 5.1.
