seems like this had something to do w/converting from office 97 to 2000 and xp pro os. also this access database is on a network drive w/more than one path. I'm not sure. I had to copy and rename my access databases when I upgraded my systems. It is a little confusing, not sure if I can explain it all.
I ended up adding another table to my report, which is the same table only w/a different path and renamed it slightly and was able to use the fields in selection criterea, works now! not sure now if i got the right path to the database originally or what?
thanks for your response.

The above statement is the approach I take for long blob fields like
PartDescription.

There is an instruction from the 'AnswerBook' which explains how to
decrease the size of a field.
This is for blob/memo fields.
It is not for the faint-of-heart.
You are changing the length of the field in the database.
It then allows for Crystal to use the field in criteria.
The other thing I have used is make a formula field which is equal to a
substring of the blob field.

Subject: [Vantage] Crystal reports-selection criterea fields
Hello group,
I am having some problems on getting fields needed for selection criterea
to show up as a choice for filtering or formulas, they show in the field
list, but not as a choice for selection or formulas. This is w/odbc and
access office 2000.
thanks
