Suggested Orders

New to using Suggested Orders.
Would like to learn how to order by the case.
Example.

Product comes in cases of 6.
Suggested orders round up by multiple of 6
Is this possible, and if so, how?

We also order by the liner foot of wood trim.
Is it available to put in how much comes on a pallet? (like 7200 LF)

Thanks!

You need to setup a unit of measure for count as a case. (CS)

Set it to part specific
On the part master

  • select purchase unit of measure to CS
  • go to UOM and enter in conversion of 6 eaches to one Case.

With wood trim, what is your stocking unit of measure?
Some companies will stock by bar length - 10, 12, 16, etc. and buy using a specific length as the default.

In addition to the UOM setup, you can also set up Lot Multiples so that PO and Job suggestions are generated in multiples of that quantity. That is done in Part Maintenance on the Sites tab/card.

Thank you very much for the help!!
This is great news.
To do this, I would right click on the item
Go to Product, Properties
Under General tab, Click on the + box, after the UOM Rules, then the space (says each) Is that the right way to set it ?

Yes, you nailed it. We get lengths in as 10, 12, 16, 17 So how would I set that ?
Thanks Again!

I have set bar lengths as standard bar lengths of B10, B12, etc.
First create UOMs of B10, B12, etc.
Next in the the Unit of measure Class of length - bring them in as a valid UOM and put in a conversion of B12 = 12 FT or 144 IN depending how you have set it up.
It is possible to keep the inventory in different lengths too.

NOTE:
With UOM’s and UOM Classes - always, always - test in a different database from live. When adding UOM’s at certain steps they become permanent.
Be very careful.
