Supplier Container - how is this used by other companies?

Hi Karen,
In container landed cost entry, we assign the next container number. We do also have a UD field on the container and on the PO release which is used as a secondary tracking information. Containers aren't re-used, once received it is closed, not unlike a PO, it goes through certain life cycle steps and is closed.

Hi Karen,
Yes we use Containers; Container Landed Cost Entry, Container Receipts. We are on 9.04.507A.
Containers are created per supplier, each can consist of many different PO's / PO lines. These come in to us by ship; they are 'on the water' around 25 days (shipped status), then are updated to imported; from there Container Receipt Entry.
We have had a few challeges related to receiving partials, receipts that span over multiple days; and how containers interact with Time Phase / MRP.

So, for these containers that come by ship...And you then receive them in, are you able to track them by a container number and/or date? Do you use or reuse the containers or are they just for holding the parts within the containers? We need to start tracking some incoming containers...
