Survey.... Blank Title 80319

That's marketing. It encourages you to book fast. They have plenty of
rooms and if not, the Imperial Palace is directly across the street and
you can get weekday room rates there for $60. Vegas is hurting now,
they won't turn away business.

Unless they anticipated smaller attendance and got a smaller block or
gave back rooms from the block I sort of doubt they will sell out the
whole thing. Maybe the older tower rooms will all go but probably not
the more expensive Palace or Augustus Towers. I have a feeling
Perspectives this year is going to feel a lot like in 2001 right after
9/11.

The site also has this sentence:

Please note that the room block may sell out before October 5th, so make
your reservations early.

Once the room block sells out, the discounted rate is gone. It's a
calculated risk.

From the site links, it looks like Caesar's is taking reservations for
the discounted rate until October 5.

we're members of the New England user group, it's about $400 a year, and
the registration price for EVERYONE in our company is a fixed $906.50, I
believe. This price holds no matter when you register, early or late.
So membership can pay for itself if you send one or two people to
Perspectives.

I have plans of going, but would still like to see the Agenda before I
make that decision. If it's going to be all about Epicor 9 then I won't
be going. I don't foresee us making a jump to a new version for at least
3 more years. We just made a jump from 5.2 to 8.03 in March. Vantage
8.03 seems to be more stable than Epicor 9 from what I have heard.

We went the year prior to our going live and the year we went live. We
learned quite a bit. We did not go last year and will probably not go this
year. I did see a lot of classes for newer users, but I don't see enough
advanced information to justify the expense.

For the first time in 10 years I will not be attending. We are freezing at Vantage 6.10 for a minimum of 3 years and more likely 5 when we drop support. With all the info relevant to Epicor 9 and the present system stable it makes no sense at all for me to attend for either education or for interaction with other 6.10 users. At a time when we've laid off people and have many on unpaid leave of absence the cost is not justifiable.

I registered for Las Vegas already, taking advantage of the discounted price, but we are like the rest of you... if it is all Epicor 9, then we will not be attending either and will request a refund. We do not have any plans to migrate to Epicor 9 at this point. I had a tough enough battle convincing everyone to upgrade to 8.03.407. We are about to venture down that road....
I have already been bugging Alexis for an agenda. This will be my first Perspectives ever, having not been invited when I was an employee. I am truly hoping for a good experience, otherwise it will be our last.
Thank you all for your answers....glad to hear we are all thinking the same.

We went to Perspectives for the first time last year and we had just barely begun our implementation preparations. For me, it was very useful in getting to know very quickly what the product was capable of. From that, I recognized that my company would have to do a lot of preparation work in a specific area to best take advantage of the product. The networking was very important to us as well.
Â
Frankly, I'm not the type to really enjoy the Vegas experience. I was too exhausted from a full agenda of classes to take advantage of it anyway.
Â
We've been told we can go this year but the company hasn't made the committment yet.

I was at a user group a couple months back and was told that the agenda would probably be available somewhere around the end of the summer.
Â
One note about user group membership that some might not know: we're members of the New England user group, it's about $400 a year, and the registration price for EVERYONE in our company is a fixed $906.50, I believe. This price holds no matter when you register, early or late. So membership can pay for itself if you send one or two people to Perspectives.

That's one of the primary reasons I hadn't registered yet, however I
missed that bit about being refunded until then. But I agree, it would
seem a little at odds not to have a grace period for viewing the
schedule before backing out.

From what I can tell the agenda isn't finalized yet (might have
something to do with the turmoil in the education group?) and the web
site says something about being able to get a refund until the agenda is
published (presumably I might get a chance to look at agenda before I
decided I wanted a refund? :-).

Quick survey...a couple of questions:

1. Are you planning to go to Perspectives in Las Vegas?
2. If attending, is there a specific reason why you are attending:
Networking or Product Features or "it's Las Vegas"?
Warning: don't be too honest.

The final schedule may be being held up by a decision to possibly drop Wednesday and compress everything else into Monday-Tuesday with shorter corporate sessions on Monday morning. I have not seen this announced yet (maybe I missed it) but had heard it was being considered. I had expected an announcement by this time because this was back in June. It was supposed to have been announced in the first week of July. I wasn't going to comment until it was announced but this has gone on far too long and the user base needs to know one way of the other. People may still be making Thursday flight bookings expecting to be there all day Wednesday. At least the web site has the dates Nov. 8-10.

Speculation....changes in the education group could have had a severe impact on labs and classroom mini-courses. At a real guess I am thinking there is a bit of chaos behind the scenes in Irvine. I am wondering how Epicor is doing financially - like everyone else related to manufacturing. Being a public held company though they are strongly restricted in what they can disclose. The July 28 earnings call (5PM EDT) could be interesting.

In theory with the right flights (in on Sunday morning and out Tuesday evening) it could reduce hotel cost to two nights. Lower travel costs might make the difference for some people.

Yes, EUG membership gets a discount rate that basically pays for the membership if one person attends and is a no brainer if more than one from a company goes.

I was at a user group a couple months back and was told that the agenda would probably be available somewhere around the end of the summer.

One note about user group membership that some might not know: we're members of the New England user group, it's about $400 a year, and the registration price for EVERYONE in our company is a fixed $906.50, I believe. This price holds no matter when you register, early or late. So membership can pay for itself if you send one or two people to Perspectives.
