Of the folks on V8 - 6/17 chose SQL - 35 % give or take

(4) If you are going to upgrade - what version are you going to upgrade to?

Most people said "Current release" at that time

One said "V8 or another ERP system ..."

One said "V 6.1"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

(5) If you are not currently running V8, why haven't you upgraded yet?

- Hardware requirements, Performance concerns, Bugs, Monumental shift in
user interface.
- Cost of new hardware
- Hardware requirements
- Distracted by other projects, waiting to hear the performance improvement
- Stability & Performance concerns along with the cost of a new server
- Finances
- Disappointed with the performance of V8 and the hardware requirements
needed to run it. Seems like a real step backwards considering the
processing power of even a 1gb system
- Seems pretty involved. Also, expenses and time involved in training and
hardware
- Big investment. Poor performance (compared to V6.1). Hundreds of Report
Builder reports. Lack of veteran users running V8.
- Client requirements. It is my (personal) belief that ERP systems should
be light-weight (at least on the client). The client requirements for 8 are
heavier than the requirements for our 3D modeling software. Version 6.1
works well for us. I see no reason to upgrade to something that runs slower
and requires more horsepower. Besides, only about 25% of our workstations
meet the "requirements" for version 8.
- heard to many horror stories and we are not fully using the current
version
- have not upgraded due to the problems listed here
- will upgrade as soon as it has been decided that V8 will help, not hinder
our daily business operations. V8 and openedge on Win-2003 3.2ghz Xeon w/2gb
RAM server - 1 user and runs like cold treacle.
- Difficult to lose our AutoRpts capabilities, all the reports we have
written in RB, and the high costs we'll have to incur for training, hardware
and software requirements for 8 ... And determining if there are enough
benefits to make the switch equitable.
- Waiting for the bugs / performance issues to be resolved and equipment
cost issues
- Getting some other projects finished before turning attention to V 8.0.
Several RB reports to decide what to do with. Many VB forms and Dashobards
to redo. Integration issues to other modules (PLM, Payroll, VBI) and custom
mods to checkout.
- Hardware requirements, user training, a ton of user programs/reports
- Hardware requirements and over 250 RB reports to convert
- Performance and cost to upgrade infrastructure
- Waiting for the bugs to be worked out and don't want to shell out the big
bucks for new hardware until I have to.
- Working on upgrade from V4.0 to V 6.1 currently
- Not convinced that 8 is really a viable proposition yet (just monitor this
group) + hardware constraints
- because 8.0 is a peformance dog on our current hardware
- No more Report Builder, No more Labor Collector/Gateway (TT5 interface),
Custom applications and our own defined tables and data in the database need
to be redone, No more VBForms layouts (version 8 hides all these fields by
default even if they have data) - we would need to redesign all the VBForms
fields layouts into the Vantage screens of 8.x, Poor/slow performance on
older equipment (Pentium III 500 Mhz) compared to 6.1, OS requirements
(doesn't support Windows 2000 anymore).
- Many reports in RB, Sales are in the tank (revenue is terrible), Might not
even still with Vantage (Boss want "Peachtree").
- Skipping 6 for various reasons. Was waiting on 8 due to performance and
the required time for all the implementation changes. In testing mode now.
- Loads of very complicated Crystal reports to recreate that have become
integral to operations. Worried about reports in this group of slow
performance. Database conversion and/or data importing questions. Required
hardware upgrades for server and all workstations. Other upgrades on network
may take precedence. Training a few users that are very very VERY resistant
to change. Have many Access database applications that link to Progress for
data lookup that will need to be adjusted.
- Waiting for the bugs to be worked out and don't want to shell out the big
bucks for new hardware until I have to.
- My employment depends on it working flawlessly and not causing ANY
disruption to the business. I do not view 8.0+, base don many comments, to
be ready to bet my job on it. But suspect in the time it takes us to convert
reports, modify screens, create dashboards and do all the other things to
make best use of 8.0+ it may actually be ready, safe and OK performance.
- If you are not currently running V8, why haven't you upgraded yet? Only
have been running Vantage for less than 2 years - still working out bugs in
our processes.
- 800 report builder reports to redo in Crystal. Ton's of VBFORMS to redo in
8. Lot's of Dashboards to redo 8. Some program mods. Currently setup for
each Work Center = a Machine. (Nightmare to convert) Performance is slow
compared to 6.1. It will take a large commitment by to company to basically
reimplement.
