Sysprogress Password change

In Vantage 6, the Epicor provided Crystal reports do not use ODBC -
their statement is correct. Instead Vantage 6 creates several temporary
files on the client's local hard disk, and Crystal works from those. In
version 8+, these have become XML files in the shared EpicorData
directory.

If you customized reports in Vantage 6, these will very likely be ODBC
and you'll see the password prompt. Its actually recommended to create
a separate read only username for ODBC reports instead of using the
sysprogress name. That might be worth setting up now if you're changing
security & passwords.

There is no system agent in Vantage 6 nor scheduled reports.

Brian.

I don't think Vantage 6.10.543 has a 'system agent' - we have a fairly
old setup here... Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The EpicorData directory doesn't look very familiar...

Greetings again!

I'm hoping to change our password for the account 'sysprogress' and have figured out how to do it in the Progress 'Database Admin' tool.

Currently, users running external Crystal reports (8.5) via ODBC are required to type in the 'sysprogress' username and corresponding password, which is perfectly fine. However, in Vantage, reports never seem to require a password. I spoke with a rep at Epicor today and she stated that this is because unmodified Vantage reports do not use ODBC, and that's why we never have to type in the password. We use Vantage 6.10.543. If I change the sysprogress password, will I somehow need to indicate to Vantage what the new password is so that we don't have to type in the password every time we run a Vantage report that is relying on Crystal Reports technology? (I think the Job Traveller is one such report).

Thanks for any help...

My limited understanding is that the sysprogress is only used with ODBC or if you are doing a dump and load. Within Vantage the system agent is the only place that has to know a password.
