Very soon 3x servers for E9 (E9 MS SQL + Service Connect + Doclink) with 75 user licenses.

Hoards of other servers on a VMware cluster with multiple SAN's.

600 users over two sites. 5 guys in IT, but need to move to 7 during this year.

And Epicor still treat us like we don't exist ;-)

Barbara, thereâ€™s two answers to your question, IMO.

If youâ€™re looking for sustainability and support staffing requirements (*not* including development/enhancements/BA/BI) then a descent rule of thumb is one IT support staff member per 40 people.

We have 3 servers and about 40 computer using employees. We have one IT person to do telecom, peripheral support (printers, copiers), desktop support, network support, network admin, db admin, Vantage admin and Vantage support and infrastructure support.

Thatâ€™s â€œsustainabilityâ€....... keep things running.

In a utopian staffing scenario, it would also be nice to have a dedicated development person (Vantage customizations, reports, etc).

Otherwise, itâ€™s hard to manage â€œShould I fix Judyâ€™s XP install today or write that report for the Sales Execs?â€

Both are important.

1 IT Consultant Group (Non-E9) (off-site/weekly on-site visit), 1 E9 off-site Consultant (for my technical questions), Epicor 800# for opening tickets, 1 E9 off-site Consultant Grp, and myself (E9 and misc IT/BS Support)

We have 3 Epicor related servers ( 1 Â– Application, 1 Â– Database, 1 Â–
Terminal Server). We are on Epicor 9. We have 4 additional servers (3
file servers and 1 for other applications). We have approximately 70 users.
Currently we have 2 Â½ IT people to support IT. One person is strictly
hardware and networking. The part-time person is the report
writer/dashboard developer. The other person is me who supports Epicor and
manages the IT department.

Here at Diba Epicor (9.04.507A SQL) runs on 3 servers. One is a physical box that hosts both the main app and the SQL database, the other two are virtual (on a separate box, one for Service connect, one for APM that isn't configured yet). There are four other servers for non-Epicor stuff.

Forty licenses, 25 active users, but a second branch due to come online "real soon now".

Two IT folks... a regular IT guy that does regular IT stuff, and one wacko who gets to take care of Epicor.

I'm the wacko.
