System Agent "Processing Delay" Value

Vic,

That's not the polling time between print runs, that's literally the time
the system pauses before running the print job. It's the time between a
person hitting the print button and the job actually being generated.

Is your's currently set to 10? I think that is usually the default time set
when it is installed, but you can set it to 5, 3, 2, without any kind of
real detrimental impact to anything.

I am curious to poll the group and see if anyone has ever played with
this value.

We print a LOT, namely Tags. We have a very competent server with
hardly any utilization.

Our Stores dept may collectively perform 1000 inventory moves/issues per
day. And they usually print a tag with each one.

I have a couple computers that when the users Preview the Tags and then
print them (or.. Just print directly without Previewing), their Vantage
clients hang up and in the server log it shows a disconnected session.

I'm thinking about lowering this Processing Delay value to 5 so it
checks for print requests every 5 seconds.....

According to Epicor support, the lower number should make the Print Preview
show up faster, but it will use more processor power. We have ours set to
3.

Our Stores dept may collectively perform 1000 inventory moves/issues per

We have our server set at 2. I cannot recall but when we did the install it was recommened to start at something like 10 and then increment it down to see if it creates any performance problems. Have not had any problems with it being set that low. When we did change it reports seemed to spit out faster but it might be just a placebo effect.
