System menus, can't enable Kinetic

We are enabling Kinetic and have come across this a few times now. Seems to be primarily the base system dashboards/trackers that I cannot enable Kinetic since the fields are greyed out. Obviously, I could just create a custom menu item but thought I check first if this is the correct way to go about it.

This specific example is Payment Tracker. I found there is a Kinetic layer available for this (Erp.UI.APCheckTracker), but no way to enable it on the original menu item.

When using the kinetic Menu Maintenance, on the overflow menu (three dots, top right) is Kinetic Options. This allows you to “Enable New UI” (Kinetic form). I believe that you can do this on a specific menu item, or if you select a sub-menu, it rolls it down to all menu items under that sub-menu.

I’d definitely run this in a test environment so you ensure it works like you need it to. I’ve not run this in a few versions.

For dashboards we ended up just making new menu items but I didn’t try @SimsTrak idea though.

Most menu items, even system menus, I can go into the individual menu and use the Kinetic Options. On this one though, the Kinetic Options does not appear in the overflow menu. I checked our test environment where I have used that option on the top “Main Menu” to enable all the kinetic screens, but even though Payment Tracker does say Kinetic on Form To Use, it still launches the classic dashboard.

Guess the custom menu item is what I will have to do. Just seems strange. Gives me the impression that Kinetic hasn’t been implemented for those screens yet, except the Kinetic layer does exist in application studio.

I can also see in the Ice.Menu table that the WebResourceURL field does show the Kinetic layer. I wonder if I could try the DMT tool to update the program type. Otherwise I will just create new menu items.

Ours is enabled but I had to switch it over to a Kinetic App as they turned it into a full app instead of a Dashboard in Kinetic

@JYount & @Randy , what versions are you on?

2025.1 and 2025.2 in Pilot

I am on 2023.2.8, upgrading to 2025.2 in February.

I was wondering because :safe_harbor: this is my own thoughts and have nothing to back this up :safe_harbor: I thought they were getting rid of the trackers. All of the screens now have the activity on them and I figured Epicor was going to make us set up our own security to give users read only access to them.

But you are both looking at the same version, so :man_shrugging:

Most of the trackers I believe use the same Kinetic application now but checking the Read Only box in menu maintenance works without needing to add any additional permissions, AFAIK.

This is likely just specific to this dashboard and some of the other accounting specific dashboards/trackers. Seems like a bug then if Epicor took the time to create the base application. I will be installing 2025.2 to test here soon, so I might try it out there first before I go and create the custom menus.

Plus, payment tracker is no longer a dashboard.
