System slowdown

Other OTW ideas....
BAQ running on a schedule
CorVu Scheduler
Other ODBC related stuff on a schedule...

The above would affect server resources and all clients.

Client running windows desktop search?

Always same time of day?

Maybe someone is doing something similar late in the day or even some other local high demand traffic like file copies.

We are running Vista 803.407. Late each day Vista starts running very slow on the workstations often needing to be closed and restarted. This was happening several months ago, went away for a few months and has now returned. Our IT Manager has verified that nothing else is running at the time this starts happening. She also stopped the services on our training and test databases to see if that helps. Our Vista is on a Progress database.
Â
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, were you able to determine the cause and how did you fix it?

We have/still have this similar problem. Some days it slows down after
lunch time, 2-3 PM. But it doesn't happen every day. There isn't
anything running that would slow our system down. I have found that
performing a "Dump and Load" of the database will improve our system's
performance. This will last about 2 or 3 months before the symptoms
return.

Thanks,

Blake Clemens

It's a procedure you perform to your system's database that will clean
up and realign all of the tables. It reorganizes your database tables.
I'm sure someone else could explain it to you better then me. Support
should have instructions on this for your Vista system. We are running
Vantage and have a Progress database. It took me a few attempts before I
successfully completed this procedure. I usually start it on a Friday
night and get it finished late Saturday night or Sunday afternoon.

Blake Clemens

We are running the same.Vantage 8.0 with Progress. I'm not the one that
originally asked the question.
