Test Company Directory structure

Yes, it is perfectly fine for your Test Company to be share the use of the
server files, with only a few exceptions(things like product configurator
rules), there is little to nothing that changes on a regular basis in those
files for the use of the system, and those that do change are noted in the
DB so there is no "contamination" of one DB by screwing around in another
one as long as you are keeping them on the exact same version and not trying
to mix and match.

Same goes for the MfgSysData folder, there is no real reason to change it,
but there is no harm in changing it either, all depends on how much you want
to alter your System agent when you do a backup and restore to move it
around.

One thing you do need to make certain is that you have a second server setup
and installed to do testing on patches and service packs prior to applying
them to your live system, even if it is just a slightly beefed up desktop or
virtual machine with it installed, performance generally isn't what you want
to test, it's functionality, so the speed is less of a concern.

I noticed that in my installation(Ver 8.03.304D, Progress DB), has a
directory structure that doesn't make sense .

The in the \Epicor directory there are the following sub-directories:
MfgSys803, MfgSysData, MfgWrk803, Pilot803, TestSys803, and Train803

The MfgSys803 has 12 sub-directories, most notable are the Server and
DB. However, TestSys803 has only one sub-directory(TestSys803\DB).

Is it ok for the Test Co to share the Epicor\MfgSys803\Server files?

What about a Working Data Directory for the Test Co.? Should there be
a \Epicor\TestSysData sub-directory for the Test Co?

Thanks in Advance,
