We want to test an upgrade from 9.04.504B to 9.04.507 on a new
machine. The new machine will be a fresh install of 9.04.507. Epicor
is saying that we cannot just restore our database to the new machine
and perform the Schema Change and Conversion programs there. Is that
true? How would one create a test machine with live data otherwise? We
are NOT changing CODEPAGE or going from 32 -> 64 or anything like
that. The only difference is going from a W2K3 server to a W2K8R2
machine. OE will remain 32 bit.

It'll work fine as long as you're mindful about updating the system agent
and such. We do it all the time.
