Test Progress server on NTWS

I think only ten can be connected at once-otherwise, why buy the server
version?

Hi All,

I'll be setting up a test PC to run through the Vantage 4 -> 5.0 upgrade,
and had a question about the Progress server (Enterprise DB.) Will it
install and run on an NT 4 Workstation PC, or does it have to be NT Server?

NT 4.0 Workstation worked fine for me also. It was an old version updated to Service Pack 6a.

Hey, if NTWS works fine for a test 4>5 conversion, will it also work for
3>4 conversion testing? I would like to schedule the TWO upgrades to run
in rapid succession in order to be in place by late December. And NO, I'm
not adding three new modules at the same time. I enjoy my sanity too much.

Watch out though. I had the Executive Accountant hooked up to 5.0 on my
test server. When the test server went down, her computer slowed to a
crawl. Uninstalling the vantage client and unmapping the drive fixed the
problem, but it made for some headaches while I tried to figure out what the
real problem was.
